Networking Session : Tekio





Snuggled across two small coffee shops+an art gallery+private residences, the very point and essence of the CCC was being moulded into durban's existence.

the scene was small, the numbers even more, yet from this, the great works emerged..

From these meetings, the core of the CCC was generated and the rest of the founding members were engaged by this core through a series of dinner/networking evenings from January 2008.

THE NETWORKING EVENINGS

the networking evenings grew out of the creative evenings being hosted at peoples houses around Glenwood.



By combining these elements with the essence of the initial Tekio meetings, the core of the CCC began to meet and ground down our principles

Executive

A management committee, known as the Executive, shall carry out the management of the CCC. The Executive of the CCC shall be made up of no less than eight members of the CCC who, as the office-bearers of the CCC, shall hold the following portfolios:

a) Chairperson: responsible for convening and chairing General Meetings, Special General Meetings and Executive Meetings and chairing the Annual General Meeting; acting as spokesperson for the CCC and the overall coordination of the CCC’s activities.

b) Deputy Chairperson: responsible for assisting the Chairperson with their duties at the Chairperson’s request or when the Chairperson is absent.

c) Treasurer: responsible for the financial management of the CCC.

d) Secretary: responsible for administration, convening Special General Meetings with the assistance of the Chairperson, keeping a record of minutes, drawing up agendas for all meetings with the input of relevant Executive members, distributing the agendas for all meetings and minutes of the previous meeting to all members at least two days before the meeting in question and keeping a database of members.

e) Communication, media and branding Officers: Two Officers will coordinate the actions relevant to this category with participation by the willing membership. They will also be responsible for contributing to the work of other categories as deemed necessary by the Executive. These Officers will also be responsible for the coordination of a CCC newsletter and will publicise and promote the CCC, encouraging new membership.

d) Visual and Performing Arts Officers: Two Officers will coordinate the actions relevant to this category with participation by the willing membership. They will also be responsible for contributing to the work of other categories as deemed necessary by the Executive.

e) Environmental Conservation, Awareness and Management Officers: Two Officers will coordinate the actions relevant to this category with participation by the willing membership. They will also be responsible for contributing to the work of other categories as deemed necessary by the Executive.

f) Social Development Officers: Two Officers will coordinate the actions relevant to this category with participation by the willing membership. They will also be responsible for contributing to the work of other categories as deemed necessary by the Executive.

PRINCIPLES AND VALUES

The Circle Centre Collective aims to uphold and realise the following Principles and Values. These Principles and Values are binding on all members of the CCC, but individual members remain free to associate themselves with the political, philosophical and spiritual orientations of their choice.

.1 Action: Implementing positive action for change, in accordance with our beliefs and in response to the generally observed problem of discussion and idea formation without this necessary aspect.

.2 Freeing of Human Potential: Encouragement of creativity, the sharing of resources, personal and social growth, networking, collectivism and the general freeing of human potential.

.3 Grassroots Democracy and Transparency: Equal and active participation by all in decision making and mutual responsibility for implementation in all human and environmental relations as well as transparency within all aspects of participation and implementation.

.4 Solidarity: Solidarity and co-operation with people struggling against oppression and exploitation, particularly through democratically organized representative organizations.

.5 Reverence of the Earth: Developing an attitude and behavior, which is respectful of and nurturing towards the environment in all its diversity.

.6 Rejecting Exploitation: CCC is fundamentally opposed to abusive power relations.

.7 Non-violence: promoting peaceful solutions to conflict.

.8 Rejection of Discrimination: CCC rejects all forms of discrimination.

OBJECIVES OF THE CCC

.1To create a model of a collective structure that could be replicated elsewhere.

.2 To initiate and co-ordinate actions to enhance well being and to potentially create crime prevention through social development, in accordance with our Principles and Values.

.3 To strengthen the potential of individuals and to equip individuals with skills and information, creating an awareness of the fact that change is possible through the participation of Civil Society.

.4 To develop and maintain connections with other organisations, projects and so on where these relationships may be beneficial in terms of the Principles and Values of the CCC.

.5 To create a space in which the above, in accordance with the Principles and Values of the CCC, may be facilitated, realised and shared.

The Circle Center Collective is an association of individuals who voluntarily engage with each other on strategic, marketing, media, environmental and creative projects.

These projects focus on creating networks, increasing access and connectivity, all connected through the elements of media, greener actions and performance based creativity.
it is an expression of the synergetic nature of collectivism, the CCC wanting to assist other collectives, co-opts and associations in forming and prospering.
